Using existing communication devices generally reserved for hearing individuals, like cell phones, Purple develops free communications software designed to make communications among deaf and hard-of-hearing people with hearing people easier and more convenient. By adding support for the iPad 2, Purple VRS continues to expand its products and services, allowing customers not only the freedom of more choices, but mobility, as well.
This seems really cool to me. Makes me wonder, what sorts of technological advances do the Deaf community rely on for communication besides VRS? I would think Skype would be a natural fit, but seems Purple could take the place of Skype? Let me know in the comments!
